I've tried putting everything where I thought it needed to be, but no mail is getting bundled. My private net number is 3616 and I'm trying to set up my first point which I've designated as .2 (in case I add .1 for me at a later time). Check #3 first. From what you describe, it sounds like you're running one event with two schedules. You should have two seperate events and two seperate schedules with their times agreeing. If that's not the problem, it could be that your first event is not finishing and deleting the launch.next file. When TabbyNet is launched at 4, it finishes the old launch.next. I'm using it, and as of yesterday I have the latest Beta version. The BBS where it originates from is 1-703-241-5492. There seems to be a problem with ArcMail, but I get around it by changing the Type to mArc and the Creator to arc* with ResEdit, then unstuffing them with ArcMac, then selecting Import and selecting the .pkt files. Points are considered nodes for routing, so just add your points to the echomail areas in Tabby Maint - 3616/1, 3616/2, etc. - and add a routing statement - typically HOLD, since points don't appear in the nodelist. It is the modem itself. I have a 2400 Avatex and a V32bis DS. The Avaton has the same problem as you have. The V32 works fine as it should. Why does the time zone matter? Is PDT a legal time zone? If we're real good and send in our $$$ (I did!) will you consider adding a bit of feedback -- busy cursor, animated splash screen -- while MacTick is doing its thing? It's unsettling to have it lurk quietly for soooooooo long (more than 10 minutes of apparent inactivity on a Mac IIsi with *nothing* to process! What is it doing???)... It looks like a great addition to our available utilities, but it feels like you wrote the docs in a bit of a hurry (packing for Boston, perhaps?). (At least I hope its shortly after, not during, Tabby DeliverMail runs. <grin>) I tried Gyprock, but after every time that it ran I checked my drives with Norton and Disk Fist Aid, and every time at least one of the disks needed some sort of minor repair, so I'm no longer using it. BTW, I have an SE/30 with 8 megs real memory, running System 7. However, I think it may have something to do with the number of echoes I'm importing every night. After I had written the message in a text editor, and set Tabby Robot to send a file to this node, I preceded to enter the message as E_Mail in Hermes. I addressed the message in this manner: <name><comma><space><zone:node> <message subject> <message text> And saved the message. I figured that the message would go out with my normal event after national mail hour (as it had a file attachment and direct routing) and all would be well. I did NOT put "^aINTL <destination node> <my node>" as the first line of the message as it was not supposed to be going via the zone gate at 1/6. Now, I don't know why my message was routed via 1/6, or whether this is an added feature of Hermes or an undocumented feature of Tabby. If its a feature of one or the other it would have been nice to know about it before I went to all the hassle of contacting Randy Bush for instructions on routing through the zone gates. If its something new in Hermes, I think its great, but it seems to need some work. To be able to route a message via one of the zone gates simply by putting the zone number as part of the node number with the name of the person you're writing to sounds like a great feature, but it doesn't seem to work quite the way it should, else I wouldn't have received the above message from Mr. Bush. Hmmm, it could be that in the Routing I only entered 720/547 instead of 6:720/547 is the reason it didn't go direct, but that wouldn't explain why the internal routing of the message didn't get it all the way through 1/6, or why it went there in the first place. As part of this OS, there was a resource type called INIT that was in the system file. INIT resources were different from other resources in that they automatically ran when they were loaded while the Macintosh was booting. Ingenious third-party developers began writing their own INIT resources, such as the INIT 3 resource that ejected startup floppies and transferred control to the system and finder of a serial hard disk drive. These INIT resources were installed directly into the system file by installer applications. Apple was not happy with people mucking up its system, so some genius at Apple developed the INIT 31 scheme. INIT 31 is another INIT resource built into the system. When it is launched, it looks for files of type 'INIT' that have an INIT resource (starting with system 4.1, it also looks for files of type 'cdev' with INIT resources) and are in the system folder (with system 7, also the Extensions and Control Panels folders inside the system folder). If it finds any, it launches them--in alphabetical order--until all of them have been launched. Then the rest of the INITs in the system file are run. (INIT resources in the system file are run in numerical order, BTW). End of lesson. That is what so weird about this. There are two events with two schedules, the times do agree, the first event does finish and clean up the Launch.Next. It is really strange and I can't explain it. BUT the problem is solved because I am using PowerKey again (which was also strange because when 7 came out the folks said PowerKey was not compatible and an update would be forth comming. When I caled a few days ago, they said it was and it seems to work fine.) The board shutdowns following the ZMH and PowerKey wakes it back up for the 0400 mail session and it is back to running fine (tset is, of course, removed from the events. So, I idid not solve my original problem, but the problem is solved never the less. Otherwise, private mail will stay at the BBS unless addressed to the point. To use AreaFix requests to turn message areas on and off, use a utility like Pete Johnson's AreaTrix. If all the files were in a single folder per catagory, then Hermies could build the directories. That is what I did by moving all the contents of a single folder to a Hard disk, removing them from their alpha named folders and calling the who think like Art/Macdraw. That is what I ment. I will still probably order the software-will so note on order that file structure is not question. This is just in case I change BBS systems. Thanx for your HST settings, but I believe you posted the wrong ones!? If not, you would tell us, you are using Hardwarehandshaking!! This is just impossible! I am starting to believe that handshaking isnt used at all, because the protocol (either sealink or XModem) is doing small packets and one end is always waiting for the other end to acknowledge!! This way an overflow on sending data doesnt occur. Where its absolutely necessary is when using ZModem transfers! The phone line isnt the problem here in Germany. I have never experienced any slower transfers on ZModem than 1400 cps. (I bet I'm right! <g!>) Tabby expects CD to be on the computer's HSKi and HSKo to feed DTR on the modem. If you don't have it that way, the far end can hang up, Tabby never recognizes it, and it waits to time out.
